|HOBART VIEW CLUB - (Voice, Interests and Education of Women)
The Hobart VIEW Club is part of a national organisation founded in 1960 that is now represented in every state of Australia and has over 20,000 members Australia-wide.
The main role of VIEW Clubs was initially to promote the voice, interests and education of women at a time when women on the whole did not have the opportunities they now have to have their voices heard and interests considered. However, over the years the clubs have broadened their scope to include direct support for the work of The Smith Family, a non-denominational children’s charity.
The Hobart View Club was inaugurated on Tuesday 1 August 2011 and is currently the only one in Tasmania.
Membership of the Club is made up of women from Hobart and environs who meet on a monthly basis on the second Wednesday evening of the month. We have dinner, followed usually by a Business meeting then a guest speaker. Our guests have ranged from a Civil Celebrant talking about her career, to a presentation by a School Principal on how The Smith Family program Learning For Life has improved life for children in her school.
Ours is a small but growing group of committed women from different walks of life, who welcome newcomers to the organisation as well as visitors from other VIEW Clubs from interstate.
